Tourney time!! Mar14 '02
Games start at 11:30 AM today on CBS.
All through my life, the middle of March was always the most exciting time of the year. The NCAA tournament begins, and throughout the next two weeks, we sit and watch to see the powerhouses crumble, and the underdogs flourish. Upsets are what it’s all about. It’s a time of hope, magic, and inspiration. The thing that really gets my blood flowing is the tournament theme song on CBS. It just gets your heart racing and as a kid I DREAMED of one day being a part of it. This is it – if you lose, you go home, if you win, the dream stays alive another day.
I remember most my high school days when the tournament would be starting. We would all have our brackets filled out, and the games would begin always on a Thursday at 11:30 in the morning – so obviously we were in school at that time. No fear, somebody always has a little portable T.V. (Nick Vassilos and Dan Pellegrini), and we’d spend a few minutes here and a few minutes there checking out the games, whether it be in the cafeteria, study hall, or even during class. And in the halls, we’d shout out the current score of the game being played; we’d fill in our brackets after the game was complete – claiming we knew that team would win, or frustrated at how they could POSSIBLY lose. Our only concern was the games – school work was put on hold. And today it’s the same. Tune in. Relax. Get ready for some fun.
