Political office questions Jan15 '03
I’ve been reading up and watching the inauguration ceremonies for Rod Blagojevich, Illinois’ new governor. It made me wonder about a few things...
A governor leads states, correct? A mayor leads just cities, right? Don’t we have someone leading counties too? Like Cook County? What is a senator? And when you see people talking on CNN or other news stations, and at the bottom of the screen it always says something like, Nate Coolman, D–TN.
Obviously it means "D" for democrat and "R" for republican. And then what state they are from. But aren’t I a democrat or republican too? So who are these people, really? Are they congressman?
I’m just looking for some clarification.
