Mississippi River town Sep08 '03
Michelle and I had a great weekend in Galena, Illinois. I had never been there before, and I discovered it was very quaint and relaxing. The rolling hills and lush forests made for spectacular scenery. At Chestnut Mountain Resort, Michelle and I sat high above the Misssissippi river and surrounding Galena territory. We had an amazing view of everything.
Chestnut Mountain Resort was eight miles from the center of town - about a 15 minute drive. Each time we drove into town, we were amazed by the scenery. The town is full of rich history and interesting shops.
The picture above is Michelle on her horse Chester. Unfortunately, no one could take a picture of me on my horse - Nugget. I am glad because Nugget was stubborn and kept eating grass while we were trying to walk, and I kept holding up the line of horses behind me. I learned real fast how to pull up on the reins and give the horse a slight kick to get him moving.
Michelle and I also went on a trolley ride through the whole town to learn it's history, as well as a ghost tour, toboggan slides, mountain biking, shopping, and world class eating. The restaurant we went to on Shell's birthday was one of the best places I've ever eaten at. Amazing food and service.
I have so many more pictures that I will post as soon as I get the chance.
