After lunch Apr22 '04
Maybe I was being a little harsh when I wrote about being hostage to lunch.
To me, the first few hours after lunch are similar to:
- Trying to run in a dream. No matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to get anywhere.
- Trying to walk through thick mud that is up to your waist.
- Trying to walk fast on ice.
All these examples clearly illustrate how I feel after lunch, when I try to sit down and really focus. It’s very difficult, due to the tired feeling that comes after any good meal.
It’s not until about 3 PM that the pace picks up. It’s then I start to zero in on my target, and apply all my attention to a certain task. In a sense, I’m in the zone – unaware of anything around me. That’s a pretty good feeling.
