Beautiful St. Augustine Aug18 '04
One of our stops along our "east coast trip" was to one of the oldest cities in America – St. Augustine. Located 60 miles north of our condo in Daytona Beach, the journey was the perfect length. The drive up was very scenic:
Once we arrived in St. Augustine, we found ourselves surrounded by plush history and delicate buildings. We visited a 300–year–old Spanish fort, wineries, and many shops on the old, narrow streets. We found that spending only one afternoon in St. Augustine is not nearly enough. It is a place that calls for days of attention. Unfortunately, we had to go back to Daytona Beach at some point.
Here are some photos of old St. Augustine, although I can’t possibly capture the essence and ambiance of the town, with mere pictures. In order to fully feel the history, it’s best to visit:
