Keeping America safe Sep12 '04
I know these could be considered brash political comments – but I have to ask some things. If you are going to respond, please keep the comment clean and composed.
Change leaders during a crisis?
In the midst of a war – our nation at war – why on Earth would anyone want to change leaders, during this time?
It’s understandable during a time of peace. Sure, the guy is considered "not good" for America, and he’s obtained a "bad image" amongst many otherwise loyal American citizens.
But let’s be honest. With the threat of terror hovering over America, like you hovering over this fake link, how could we possibly change leaders during this time, and then expect the new leader to pick up where the previous left off?
Priorities, priorities, priorities
The question is... Who do you want leading this nation when the next terror wave hits? Who will fight "tooth and limb," for all America is worth, in response to attacks? Who will do whatever it takes to hunt the merciless killers down?
Putting everything else aside (because in September of 2001, we had no choice), who will fight us to the end of this war – wherever and whenever that may be?
My take on politics, and the world, right now is that nothing else matters, except getting through this war. Sure, there are dozens of other issues that our leader is performing poorly with (of course that’s all speculation), but during a time of war, all other issues are meaningless!
Our safety from terrorism is the number one priority now. And it will be, for however long this lasts.
I don’t want a new leader taking over in the middle of all this. Although he might be a better candidate, and he might do things better, that our current leader doesn’t do at all – what good is that if we are still at war!?
Policies vs. Reality
I DO disagree with some of our current leaders’ policies and attitude, but being completely honest – I feel safe with him during this time of war. And just because I disagree with SOME of his policies, that doesn’t mean I disagree with them all.
Sure, yuk it up with Michael Moore. That’s all so shocking, isn’t it? Look at it this way. What matters is not the first seven minutes after the terror hit America – it’s the first seven months.
During the first seven months, our leader backed everything he said he would do. He hunted down the prime terrorists, and anyone who harbored terrorists. This was all made clear. Why is everyone so shocked with it?
The bottom line
I know he will do whatever it takes to protect this country. I know he will be aggressive, and forceful, when dealing with these hideous people. I know he will stand up, and face fear "head on."
And right now that’s all that matters to me. Because without safe borders, our country is suseptible to all harm. And that is NOT America. That is NOT why we are called "The Land of the Free, and The Home of the Brave."
Without safe borders, there is no future – for anyone.
