Netflix Five Feb02 '05

I recently increased my Netflix load to five DVDs at a time. Since June 2004, I have had three at a time.

I did this after careful consideration of cost, other DVD services, as well as analysis of how often I watch and enjoy movies.

Another service

My first idea was to try an entirely new DVD service, since there are so many popping up. I figured it would be a good experiment to see how other DVD services compare to Netflix.

Some popular DVD services I was going to try were Blockbuster, Wal–Mart, or Greencine.

Even though I have absolutely no complaints with Netflix, I figured it would be wise to try a new service, "just in case."

Cost

In considering another DVD service, I had to take into account a few things – one of them cost.

If it turned out that trying another service would cost me more than just increasing my Netflix load, then I’d have to re–consider the idea.

It turns out that most of the other DVD services cost a minimum of $13 per month, for three DVDs out at a time.

Add that to my $18 a month for Netflix 3, and that’s over $30.

$30 was my limit.

Ease of use and features

I’ve been using the Netflix web site for over six months now. I have become very proficient with the interface.

It takes time to get used to a web interface – to know how to quickly get around, and be efficient.

Since I’ve already established myself at the Netflix site, what’s the point of learning a whole new interface?

Not to mention that Netflix has superb web interface features, such as RSS, accessible URL’s, and much more.

How can I be assured that these other services have these features? I can’t.

The decision was easy

The decision was an easy one, in the end. I stick with all the features I know and love, and I stay at my $30 limit. (Netflix 5 DVDs is currently $29.99 per month)
