DVD extras

Part of the DVD movie experience is being able to "take it all in," at your own pace and time.

What’s also nice about DVDs is the included menu of "Extras," or "Features."

Extras come in all different shapes and forms, but there are a few common ones that exist on most every DVD, such as Theatrical Trailer.

As a way to enhance the movie experience, I like to watch the extras after I have fully viewed the movie.

My question for you today is... How do you watch extras?

When do you watch extras? After the movie, or before?

Which extras do you find yourself going to first?

Which extras do you avoid altogether?

For me, I watch extras AFTER the movie, and I usually go to the Theatrical Trailer first. Then, I’ll watch the Outtakes, or Gag Reel. These are always good for laughs.

I tend to avoid any documentaries included, but some days I may view them to learn more.

Also, how would you improve extras, if you had the opportunity? What kind of extras do you think would be interesting on DVDs? Should film makers be putting more thought into extras?

I too, watch the extras after the movie. I usually go for the gag reel, or deleted scenes first. Then I may to go the trailer. On a rare occasion, I may actually watch the movie with the directors/actors comments on. Although, I've never made it all the way through the entire movie, as it gets boring after a while.

As far as getting more/changing extras, I don't know what I'd add, but I'd probably remove the actors' bio's. I don't think anyone reads through that.
