Version 8 this year Mar14 '05

I’ve been patiently working on the next version of this site (version 8), every Sunday morning, from about 7 to noon. (This is the only available time I can seem to find)

I am looking to create a much more fluent CSS site... with strong CSS visuals, such as rounded corners, pretty navigation tabs, etc.

If you look at Steve Smith’s Ordered List.com, you’ll get an idea of the direction I want to go in. Take a look, specifically, at the rounded corners, that meet "half way." That’s what I want to do. The colors are great on that site, too.

I am making strong progress, but I am taking my time. There truly is no rush.

With this current version, things are working so well – I sometimes think of it as a "well oiled machine." Not only do I have the graphic design "look" that I want, the back–end functionality has been very smooth, with hardly a problem.

I launched this version (7.5) in June 2004. This is the longest I have gone without a redesign. I suppose that’s a good thing.

With the next version, there are a lot of back–end issues that I am working out, as well. My .htaccess file (mod_rewrite), is growing in usefulness. Without it, I would never be able to do such powerful URL manipulation, such as permalinks, etc.

I am looking forward to the next "era," for both this site, and my general web development capabilities, which I carry over to all my web projects.

Look for version 8 this year.
