UR Chicago New Year’s Eve party

January 1, 2006 / Filed under: Events, Holidays

Last night, Michelle and a group of my friends did something elaborate for New Year’s. Normally Michelle and I just go to a local bar, and join in the smaller celebration at midnight, but this year we wanted to do something better.

We attended UR Magazine’s Future Forward 2006, which was held at Chicago’s Marriott Michigan Avenue.

This was only made possible by my friends Theresa and Lexie, both of whom attended the event last year, and were completely in awe. So they decided to do it again, and ask me along.

We had a small group (five of us), but it was still loads of fun.

The spectacle of downtown Chicago on New Year’s Eve was worth the $130 ticket prices, by itself. As The Killers - "Mr. Brightside" remix pounded through five floors of the Marriott hotel, hundreds and hundreds of young adults crammed through the hallways, elevators, bathrooms, and dance floors, dressed in their cleanest suits and dresses - "high heels," snazzy hair, and all.

The food was excellent, the drinks were plentiful, and the beat intense.

I’m not much of a "club goer," but I still enjoyed the music and atmosphere.

This event is highly recommended, and I can’t wait to do it again this year!

Sweet. Actually, that link I included just goes to the main page - not to the specific event. My bad.

Here is a better one.
