Cross Town Classic May19 '06
This afternoon begins the "Cross Town Classic" between the Cubs and Sox, at U.S. Cellular Field.
I am very lucky to be attending Saturday’s game, thanks to Michelle getting tickets through her work (third row, at that!). I really like U.S. Cellular Field - it’s high intensity, modern ballpark atmosphere (as opposed to Wrigley), and better beer (MGD, as opposed to Old Style).
Realistically these games mean very little for either team, in their respective division/league - but they mean quite a lot to passionate Chicago baseball fans.
I am a Cubs fan, so I will be hoping for some solid baseball to be played, and I’m just hoping for at least one win. I mean, I can’t expect two or three wins - after all, the Sox are the defending World Series champs. One win would make me happy.
If they lose the other two, that’s fine - as long as they don’t get blown out, or embarrassed.
But either way I’ll have fun Saturday at the park, and watching on TV the other two days.
