iTunes bit rate question Sep03 '06
If I download an album from iTunes at 128 kbps (kilobits per second), and then proceed to burn those songs to CD, are they still at 128 kbps, on the CD?
Some would agree they are. I do too.
But what if I then re-rip those songs, from the CD, back into iTunes, at 300 kbps quality? iTunes lets you rip songs from CDs at whatever bit rate you want.
So what bit rate are they at now?
Perhaps I’m confusing myself, but this is something that has intrigued me for some time.

Well, technically the burned CD (and all Red Book CDs for that matter) would play at 1.41mbps, regardless of the bit rate of the original source. B ... Read more.
