Initial thoughts on Nightcrawler, by Pete Yorn Sep09 '06
Here are a few initial thoughts on Nightcrawler - Pete Yorn’s latest album (2006, Sony BMG Music Entertainment).
This album uses a quote from a 1962 movie, of which I recently saw:
Blanche Hudson: Really? Did she like it?
Jane Hudson: (mimicking Blanche) Really? Did she like it?
Track 7, Same Thing, contains these quotes from the movie Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, at the very end of the song.
Without knowing the quote was on the album, I chose to see Whatever Happened to Baby Jane (of all the movies in the world) not two weeks prior to this new Pete Yorn album being released. Coincidence?
If anything, I find it mildly humorous.
Track 8, Alive, reminds me of the 1980 song Pretty In Pink, by The Psychedelic Furs. It’s got a similar feeling. The guitars right in the beginning, especially.
Overall, this album is a lot of fun, so far.
