Removing saved chat logs Jan31 '07

I've been getting this question a lot, mainly from co-workers who are soon-to-be leaving the company:

How do I remove old chat logs from my computer?

By "chat logs," they are referring to Trillion's archive of instant message conversations, which are stored on their local computer.

(Many companies are adopting instant message as a standard form of inter-office communication.)

It's obviously a good idea to remove that stuff if you leave the company. In fact, it's probably a good idea to remove it daily. I am not suggesting that I sit around and chat about non work-related topics all day, but you never know what could get you in trouble.

Simply having an offbeat conversation about the weather could be considered grounds for termination.

Anyway, I realized I'm glad I use Meebo as my instant message client - simply because it's web-based, meaning the chat logs are stored in a database on a server somewhere (probably in California). Point being, no chat logs ever reside on my local machine.

Just another good reason to use Meebo.
