Vinyl records are cool again Jun25 '07
I noticed an article in today's Chicago Tribune: It's a revolution: Vinyl records once again cool. I couldn't help but smile in awe, surprised at the great timing of this article. Only a couple of weeks ago, I asked a similar question: Where can I buy vinyl records?
For a while now, I've been eager to start listening to vinyl records due to their amazing sound quality. As I was recently watching a season 2 episode of Lost, I heard some music being played over vinyl, and even through the conversion of "vinyl sound" to DVD audio, I was still amazed at the quality. I can't believe I've been missing out on this for so long.
A reply on Twitter pointed me to musicstack.com.
I am also looking for other sources of vinyl records (eBay and Amazon), and thinking about purchasing a turntable from Amazon.
Many people may wonder why I would switch to vinyl, when today's digital age uses compressed music files stored on computers or iPods, I can simply say: some music is meant for the experience, not just for the convenience.
That article from the Chicago Tribune also says that many record companies offer a free digital version of the music, if you purchase the vinyl format.
I think this is amazing, and I hope to start listening to vinyl very soon!
