Matthom SMS content Sep16 '07
I've talked before about SMS integration as an alternative method to promote content.
Using two existing services, I've created a keyword that can be sent via SMS, which returns the most recent post on this site. It's a good way to stay informed of the latest entries here, but more so an experiment for myself in testing these services.
To use this service, all you have to do is send a text message from your mobile device to either of these two numbers:
- 67463 (msgme.com)
- 41411 (TextMarks.com)
You can store those numbers in your address book on your mobile device for easy access.
The text message you send just has to read "matthom" (without the quotes). A few seconds after you send the message, you'll get a return message with the summary of the most recent post, along with the URL. Here is an example screen capture from an iPhone:

The URL is a shortened version, and will redirect to the appropriate post. Many mobile devices let you click directly on the link, which then opens in the browser.
For more information and uses for SMS content, see my original post.
