Twitter user Vaspers wrote a good blog post listing the 7 reasons NOT to Twitter. I find it right on target with many of the initial complaints coming from the anti-Twitter population:
- Narcissistic
- Message Speed
- Reply Velocity
- Message Brevity
- Message Anonymity
- Addictivity Dangers
- Promotional Lethargy
Here are a couple of quotes that stand out:
You're an A List blogger, with an elite blogroll and hundreds of comments on every post, but on Twitter, you're just an avatar like everybody else.
You're more prolix, and you don't care to learn the marketable skill of condensed idea formulation.
You like to jabber on and on about stuff, but here you're limited to 140 characters per message. ... Pithy statements and concise writing are not your thing.
You find it unsettling that your message got replies so quickly ... Blogocombat on Twitter freaks you out because the attacks and defenses are so unexpected, swift, and brutal.
If you've tried Twitter before, and you stopped using it, can you find yourself in one (or more) of these reasons?
