Better voicemail with Pinger

February 7, 2008 / Filed under: Cellular, GrandCentral, Pinger, Services, Tips

Pinger recently announced a new feature, Pinger Voicemail, which allows cellular users to take advantage of unique voicemail features by auto-forwarding missed calls to the Pinger service.

  • Set up special, personal greetings for your friends.
  • Reply right from your voicemail.
  • Get a quick-dial text notification with sender and duration.
  • Do away with PIN codes and obnoxious phone trees.
  • Listen, reply to and forward voicemails from the web.
  • Store your voicemail messages forever!

I've mentioned auto-forwarding before, in combination with GrandCentral, which is similar to Pinger.

The beauty of both services is the ability to store your voice messages online, in a centralized and constructive location. It makes it easier to share or archive the messages in a manner of your choosing.

This is really something everyone should consider. It's dead simple to forward missed calls, and traditional voicemail is lacking in many areas.

It makes me wonder when cell carriers will start providing such services themselves.

FYI, Pinger has discontinued their voicemail service.

What the hell?? The pinger home page is now completely foreign to me. What does this service do now?

I guess the whole concept was not catching on?
