Brightkite works with Twitter Apr24 '08
When you "check in" at Brightkite, your location is posted to Twitter as a status update. This is useful for quickly posting where you are.
This feature has changed, however. Starting today, it seems Brightkite no longer sends a Twitter status update when you check in. Rather, Brightkite now updates your actual Twitter location field.
This makes sense, but I'm not sure I like the change.
Quite often I want my location to be explicitly known by my Twitter followers, and nobody looks at the Twitter location field.
There doesn't seem to be a way to change this on Brightkite, either.
The only option is to check in at a place, then post a note or photo about the place, which will then carry over to Twitter as a status update.
As Brightkite wisely warns:
"Keep in mind that this might easily annoy your followers, so choose wisely."
Maybe it's better this way.
